We all want our children to fit in - have somewhere to belong, people to accept them.
We dream of a life where our children succeed, and feel important about
themselves and fit in amongst their peers. We imagine a life where
friendships evolveand opportunities await our children. And for parents
of children with special needs, this dream is often difficult to
fulfill. A new chapter of a non-profit organization titled, "No More
Sidelines," was founded in January, 2010 and is starting it's second year of serving families in Central Michigan.
Inspired by founder
Cyndi Blair, the organization has grown to serve almost 300 children
with special needs and their families in the Muskegon area. The group
has proven to give many kids the opportunity to participate in sporting
and community events that otherwise wouldn't have happened and is
allowing parents and siblings to network and socialize as well, thus
fulfilling another important need for these families.
The goal of this organization is to make sure that all children with
special needs are afforded the opportunities that mainstream kids have.
This groups mission is to help these children become accepted members
of our community.
